What to do

With cycling and walking trails in abundance {Including the 100-mile South Downs Way which can be joined 10 minutes away in Cocking Hills}, sandy beaches (infamous West Wittering), bustling towns, pretty chocolate box villages and a host of family attractions within a short distance of our campsite- Or you can just listen to the wildlife and watch the world not go by so fast.

Nearby towns

Chichester is less than 20 minutes from the campsite.

There’s been a settlement here since the Roman times, so there’s history round every corner. Start with the Fishbourne Roman Palace, then trip along in time to the Bishop’s Palace Garden, Chichester Cathedral, the Novium museum and the planetarium – and of course the shops!

You also have the trendy Brighton 1 hours drive away and port town Southampton is only 50 minutes!

For a bucket and spade day head to the Blue Flag beach at West Wittering where you’ll find sand dunes, sheltered waters and acres of space.

Goodwood horse racing and motor events are a 20 minute drive away.

Food

There are pubs in walking distance of the site, the closest is called the Hare&Hound which has been a focal point of the village since the nineteenth century. The pub retains a traditional feel in the unspoilt surroundings and is featured in many guides as well as a starting and finishing point for many great walks, set in the rolling South Downs, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

This is a Flint-walled country inn with outdoor seats and South Downs views serving local ale and hearty food.

Amenities

When it’s time to retreat to the site, it really is a retreat: this is no-frills aside from your luxurious Glamping tent and the toilet facilities and showers. There are no evening entertainments, organised activities or theme nights to interrupt the peace and quiet. Wifi can be accessed at the local pub and signal is patchy on the field. There will be a washing up point and the site is shared with other campers. The tent is located at the bottom of the sloped hill, lining a small country road with minimal noise pollution. You can hire a fire and stove with chopped wood for all your outdoor warmth and cooking needs!

Pack and prep for self-service stays, and feel free to anticipate calm nights by the campfire ( you can hire directly from the site manager), barbecue on the air and pooch snoring nearby, when eyes can be turned to clear night skies for top-notch stargazing – this is a Dark Sky Reserve after all...
